Julius to BBR 12 May 1944

This is just a little card and not even in the current posting month, but I am using it to get back on more timely posting.

Dear Mom[1]:

This bouquet will have to serve as a poor substitute for real flowers for Mother’s Day[2]. I didn’t think that a regular card could express my feeling for you on Mother’s Day or any day of the year. It would have been nice if I could have been home this time – especially since Margaret[3] is there. I’ll write a longer letter later. Love, Julius[4].

[1] Addressed to: Mrs. C. Richert; 1130 T Street; Fresno, Calif.
[2] Since Julius was in a forestry camp, the question is if this is a handmade card or not. The card has a very sharp impression creating a matte effect and the envelope is of similar size and color. This suggests the card was store bought, but then raises the question of when it was procured.
[3] Julius’s sister.
[4] No return address, but cover also marked: “Special Delivery Airmail.”
