Dear Bob[1]-
By the time
I have this letter addressed in all the various squares[2],
I feel as if I had practically written pages! Me – what never even used to put
on a return address!
I’ve been
writing family letters – Billie, Elizabeth, Walt’s Father, and Julius[3].
I’m told them all that L.A. has been having rain, are you interested too? We
had some thunder that was the best I ever heard – it sounded like a whole
flight of P 38’s buzzing 1856 Vista Del Mar[4]!
I almost expected the home to shake!
Walter is
back from Fresno and he’s rented the home again. Hope the tenants get to stay
there for a while! The have a 6 weeks old baby and I know Mrs. Hooper will get
a lot of wear out of my stationery tubs[5]
and my nice clothes lines!
I’m ashamed
to admit your second box isn’t in the mail yet – but it’s practically ready
now. I’ve had to hunt for some of the items – hope they all get there without
having nibbled on the way. I’ve just heard of a good way to send home made
candy – write + tell me you want some –
If I don’t
comment on you letters it’s not for lack of interest but because I’m afraid my
comments will be censored. 4 down – 31 to go – reverse the figures and I’ll be
even more pleased[6].
Always,
Lydia[7]

hand washing set-up. In the Fresno heat, the clothes would certainly dry as
quick as a machine.
